Road Team will be shooting at 5pm on Friday night, be at range by 4pm. Saturday and Sunday (Road Team) times are 1pm, be there by 12p. Junior Road Team shoots Saturday 5pm, be at range at 4pm.

Pizza in Hotel lobby after Friday night line and Saturday night line. Be sure to fill out "pizza sheet" if you will be there.

Our next JOAD session begins Monday, January 2nd. The shop and ranges are still open! Don't forget, all archers can earn pins out of class, while we are on break. We will be happy to help the parents learn how to score and smile!!!!! Maybe, you could even get your parents to give shooting a try!!

Ron Pelkey called the meeting to order. Copies of the April meeting minutes were distributed via hard copy to any members that needed a copy as well as Treasurer’s Report.

Minutes had been posted on blogspot and hard copies handed out. Motion to accept the minutes was made by Nick, seconded by Becky H. Motion accepted.

Tournament Schedule

Review current schedule: 2011/2012 schedule was handed out, which includes required tournaments, home tournaments, as well as other recommended tournaments.

Kentucky Indoor Nationals- March: 31- April 1:Committee set up to research travel and other arrangements. Becky L, Richie, Jen, Brian. Group will discuss options and create a budget to present to club, which may include some additional fundraising.

JOAD Outdoor Nationals: Summer tournament in June/July that coaches strongly encourage archers to participate. Discussion about our indoor schedule should not be limited, and would like to see more involvement with outdoor JOAD tournaments. Our outdoor range is complete and we hosted a tournament this past summer and will do again in 2012.

Larry Wise Shooting seminar

Coaches would like to invite Larry Wise (professional archer/coach) to host a two day seminar. Mr. Wise came up in 2009 and was a great success. Cost is $200 per shooter. Motion was made by Mikayla to budget $2000 towards seminar, with each student who registers to receive $100 towards cost of seminar. Motion seconded by Kim, motion carried.

Calcutta ticket distribution

Tickets were distributed by Mikayla. Date is January 28^th at the American Legion in St. Albans. Thoughts of rewarding top ticket sellers were discussed

Next Meeting- December 14, 2011

Other New Business

Ron announced that club communications will be done through our new blogspot: http://www.pelkeysarchery.blogspot.com/ .We will no longer send emails. Archers and parents should check the blogspot regularly, twice each week, for announcements, deadlines, updates, and changes to schedule. This will be a great tool which will allow all members of JOAD to stay informed, not just Road Team/Junior Road Team.

Deb brought up discussion of JOAD paying tournament entry fees for archers who have graduated from the JOAD program. USA Archery allows archers to compete in JOAD events thru the year of their 20^th birthday. Discussion followed about different age limits for “alumni” to be able have tournament fees paid. Motion made by Nick to allow payment for alumni up to age 24, seconded by Jacob P. Motion was declined. Wendy made a motion for age to be thru the year of their 22^nd birthday, seconded by Tracy, motion accepted.

Road Trip!??!

There is a tournament at Riverside Archers JOAD in Hudson, Massachusetts on Saturday December 3rd. Is anyone interested in a day trip? We participated in this tournament last year and truly enjoyed it. We would travel down to shoot on the 130p line. It is a 600 round; which would take about 2.5 to 3 hours, then drive home (about 4 hours). It's a long day, but a great place to shoot, get a tournament in, and earn some great experience. Please post any questions or comments or call Ron at the shop. I would like to get applications in this weekend.

Thanks to all of you who attended our first meeting last Wednesday. I will be posting the minutes soon. Couple of highlights: Calcutta is set for January 28th; tickets are on sale for $110/couple. Please be sure to grab some and start selling!! We have established committees for Fundraising, Calcutta, Snack Bar and Travel, as well as the Kentucky trip. If you have not done so already, please be sure to help out with one of these groups. The work is NOT overwhelming and much easier with more people to help. The club is only as strong as your input. Ron Pelkey called the meeting to order. Copies of the March meeting minutes were distributed via hard copy to any members that needed a copy.

I . Secretary’s Report

A. March Minutes- Ron asked everyone to review the minutes and asked if any changes were required to the meeting minutes. A motion was made by Nick Parks to accept the March minutes as submitted. The motion was seconded by Owen Maskell and the minutes were approved by all members.

II. Treasurer’s Report

Deb Gabriel gave the Treasurer’s report. As of 4/13/2011 we have a balance of $10,406.46. We made $250.00 from the bottle drive and $410.00 from the Spring Fever tournament bake sale and $62.00 from the 50/50 raffle The totals for the Kentucky trip are off slightly as Deb had not received back all left over money. Total cost for the Kentucky Trip expensed (not including cost of tournament fees) was approximately $4400 and it is reflected on account summary as $4964.96. We currently have $1,881.46 less in our account in comparison to last year at this time without the Kentucky trip information adjusted. We will have remaining expenses for summer picnic and summer tournaments. Nick Parks made a motion to accept the report. Owen Maskell seconded this motion, and the motion was approved by all members.

III. Old Business

A. Committees

1. Travel- Please provide feedback on the Kentucky Trip if you haven’t done so already. Forms are on the bulletin board. General feedback provided in the meeting was that all archers would like to go to Kentucky again next year.

2. Snack Bar- Oddy 450

· Sign up for snack bar items for the Oddy 450 was passed around during the meeting. All members were asked to sign up to bring one item

· Mikayla requested additional help for 11:30 am and 3 pm time slots.

· We will not have a snack bar for the Friday night lines.

· We will plan to set up the snack bar before the end of the 11:30 am JOAD class on Saturday, so that we can take advantage of selling items to more people.

3. Calcutta- Nothing new

4. Fundraising-

· We will plan to draw the winner for the Full Fan Lodge hunting trip on Saturday at the Oddy 450. We still have some tickets out. Please return all tickets by Saturday.

IV. New Business

A. Summer Schedule-

1. Tournaments

a. Gold Cup, May 12-15^th. This tournament is in New Jersey. Applications need to be in by tomorrow, so if you are interested see Ron ASAP.

b. Nor’Easter, June 24-26^th. This tournament is in Massachussetts.

Both of these tournaments are 3 day events (one practice day and two days of scoring) and shooting at 50 meter distance. The Nor’Easter is a good tournament if you are interested in competing in outdoor nationals which will return to the east coast next summer. Ron encouraged use of the outdoor range to start preparing for these tournaments. Ron/John will be available a few days a week through the summer to assist with outdoor shooting.

2. Picnic- Saturday, June 4^th- Ron asked for thoughts regarding continuing to have the picnic in June. He gave some history about how the picnic started including that the picnic initially started as a way to wrap up the season and all be together, however initially they did it in April, but the weather was generally bad so they moved it to June for an improved chance of better weather. He wonders if it is hard having it later in the season for families. He reports that typically they have about 50 people attend. Owen states that he likes having it in June as it feels like a reunion. We decided to keep the June date for the picnic.

3. Summer JOAD- June 29^th- July 27th- On Wednesday nights during this date range, we will have shooting for anyone that is interested. Road team members can come to shoot or to help out.

B. Strength Training Feedback – General feedback from the archers was that they felt that the stretches that she shoed them were more effective than the ones that they are currently doing. They would like to add them to their stretching routine

Becky Hanley asked about Lisa’s credentials- Ron/Mikayla report that she is a local personal trainer who has her own business on Kingman Street in St. Alban’s. She used to work at Duke’s Fitness and more recently has worked with the St. Alban’s hockey team on strength training.

Ron asked if archers are interested in having Lisa come back and do another class. 6 archers would attend another session and be willing to pay $8.

Ron asked how we should incorporate strength training into our schedule

Tad recommended adding 30 minutes prior or at the end of practice to do strength training

Mikayla wondered if strength training could be incorporated into the practice

Becky Louko recommended that ideally strength training should not happen on practice days. Question whether one or two archers could organize an additional night for strength training that could be optional versus archers committing to strength training outside of practice times.

Ron asked if we should purchase some of the equipment tried tonight with JOAD money.

Generally archers are interested in having equipment available

Mikayla will get information of the equipment from Lisa

Becky Louko recommended getting the names of the equipment so that we could order the equipment ourselves to minimize cost to JOAD.

C. Next Meeting- November 9th

Our first monthly meeting for Vt Junior Archers JOAD will be Wednesday, November 9th at 630pm. Road Team and Junior Road Team members are all expected to be in attendance along with a parent, and ALL members of JOAD are welcome. We will distribute Calcutta tickets, (RT members will be required to sell at least two, Jr RT members will be required to sell at least one), discuss tournament schedule, organize snack bar duties, and start conversations about Kentucky and Outdoor Nationals.

Pizza and snacks will be offered!! See you there!
